Welcome to the LCMBA web site.

LCMBA has been formed to be a central group to manage trail use in the Lanark County area. We maintain some of the trails in the Almonte area, and are offering our help to others interested in building trails. We will not come and build trails for you. We will help you to navigate trail permission, insurance aspects and some of the paperwork involved in creating a trail.

We are a group of primarily mountain bikers, but we welcome all non-motorised trail users, hikers, dog walkers, trail runners snowshoers, skiers and all. We try to be respectful of other users and hope for the same in return.

It's now 2023 and it's hard to believe this all started almost 10 years ago by Jordan Smith and myself (Phil Maier). Back then the first trail was the Almonte Riverside Trail (ART) that went from Strathburn to Naismith along the scenic Mississippi River.

We were a small group of people working on the trails in those days so we teamed up with the Ottawa Mountain Bike Association (OMBA) mostly so we could insure the trails and protect the landowners.

We've grown quite a bit since then and have reached a critical mass that it makes sense that we start our own organization. That's how the Lanark County Mountain Bike Association (LCMBA) came to be in early 2019.

We are now the Spring of 2023 hopefully we are over the strange times of Covid-19 lockdowns and social distancing. We suggested that over the spring and summer of 2021, responsibility for the trails would shift from MVT/OMBA to the LCMBA.  This transition stalled as a result of the pandemic but we hope to resurrect the initiative in 2023, same great trails and all the same great trail users are welcome though so don't worry.
