Evolution - MVT(OMBA) to LCMBA
It's now 2021 and it's hard to believe this all started almost 10 years ago by Jordan Smith and myself (Phil Maier). Back then the first trail was the Almonte Riverside Trail (ART) that went from Strathburn to Naismith along the scenic Mississippi River.
We were a small group of people working on the trails in those days so we teamed up with the Ottawa Mountain Bike Association (OMBA) mostly so we could insure the trails and protect the landowners.
We've grown quite a bit since then and have reached a critical mass that it makes sense that we start our own organization. That's how the Lanark County Mountain Bike Association (LCMBA) came to be in early 2019.
We are now the winter of 2020/21 in the middle of a strange time of Covid-19 and social distancing. Over the spring and summer, responsibility for the trails will shift from MVT/OMBA to the LCMBA. You have started to see a transition which will continue over the next little while with new signs going up, same great trails though so don't worry.
